Springtime Crafts for Kids

Spring

Spring is here, and it's time to decorate! If the thought of doing craft activities with your kids fills you with horror, it is worth knowing that family time is an essential factor in creating solid bonds, love, connections, and relationships among the family members. Crafting can help to instill a sense of achievement and pride in children. In a fun and relaxed environment, gather the family for some time together.

Here are a few easy crafts that will make spending time with the family moments you'll remember and cherish.

Q-tip daisies

Q-tip daisies

- These can be attached to construction paper using a little glue or placed in a vase to display in a room.

  1. First, start by cutting a handful of cotton swabs in half.

  2. Then roll yellow play dough into a ball with hands, then press between palms to flatten slightly.

  3. Stick the swab halves cotton side up into the play dough, placing them around the outside to form the petals.

  4. Finish it off by inserting a green pipe cleaner into the playdough for the stem.

Dragonfly Clothespins

Dragonfly Clothespins

- Clothespins aren’t just for hanging laundry! These dragonflies are sure to put a smile on your face. Get creative with the colors and make it your own.

  1. Paint or use markers to decorate the clothespin with stripes, zig-zags, or any other wacky designs of your choice.

  2. Apply dots of glue to the front of the clothespin and attach googly eyes if you have some. (If not, you may have to draw your own facial features.)

  3. Next, bend both edges of a pipe cleaner to the center and twist.

  4. You will want to have 2 bent pipe cleaners per clothespin.

  5. Criss-cross the 2 pipe cleaners and put them inside the clothespin.

  6. Use hot-glue (or super glue) to secure it.

Toilet Paper Roll Bunny

Toilet Paper Roll Bunny

- Make a family of bunnies – make them black, white, brown, or spotted! It's your choice, the more the merrier.

  1. First, paint the paper roll the color of your choice.

  2. Next, make the bunny ears by tracing and cutting out “rabbit ears” on construction paper.

  3. Make a smaller ear insert with a different colored paper of your choice. Note: This should look similar to your first set of bunny ears, but smaller.

  4. Afterward, glue the ears to the inside of the top of your paper roll.

  5. Glue two googly eyes to your paper roll. (If you don’t have googly eyes, you can always draw the eyes.)

  6. Twist three pipe cleaners around each other and glue this down to the paper roll.

  7. Glue a pom-pom on top of the pipe cleaners for the nose.

  8. Then draw on the mouth with a sharpie

- that's all folks!
